84/365 Shelly’s back from her month long trip to New Zealand with a Maori tattoo
There is a story that goes along with this tattoo. But, from what I’ve learned, all Maori tattoos tell stories.
Yoga with Jinny
77/365 Jinny needed some pics for her yoga instruction endeavors, so she invited me and Sandy to take pictures. Luckily, her boyfriend, an old classmate of mine and Sandy’s, has been in charge of a theatre for quite some time. It provided a fun dynamic.
This experience also provided me with a unique opportunity to take the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS to some limits. All of these photos were shot...

Harriman State Park
Some more pics from our hike in Harriman State Park that I shot in RAW and edited with UFRaw and GIMP. This has generated a whole new set of things I have to learn. The level of specificity is nice though. Oh, and this was the first hike of 2009, and it handed me my ass, oof.
Congrats for Gib! An Acronyms Lesson
Kelli: Gib has been accepted to the graduate program for computer animation at Parsons!! (Still waiting to hear from Pratt & S.V.A.)
Kelli: And the creepy thing... Parsons calls their program Design/Technology. Gib might be a DT again, haha.
Anthony: congrats to Mr. Gib!
Laura: DTs for life, don't try to deny it
Kelli: ^ saw that coming
Anthony: is DT a bad thing?
Rodrick: Congrats !!
Kelli: Anthony, It's the same name as the program we attended at Purchase. DT's are infamous in our own minds. But no, in reality its not bad, just funny.
Chrissy: They are infamous in the minds of non- DTs as well. Congrats Gib! That's awesome news.
Rachel: congrats!
Jim: Nice going.
Simon: So sweet. It's nice to have friends in grad school
Jarid: Does that mean he is going to have to start drinking MGD again to the song roxanne!!!!!
Kelli: ^ heaven help me if it does!
Tucker: Yes!! I agree, DT for life!
Anthony: what's MGD? all these theater tech acronyms!
Simon: I think that one's Miller Genuine Draft
Kelli: Simon's right. Very important theatrical acronym!
Katie: That's really awesome!
Kelli: thanks everyone! hooray for Gib! :)
Orchids Galore!
We went to the Planting Fields Arboretum on Saturday. They have one of the best greenhouses we’ve ever been to. One room was fully dedicated to Phalaenopsis, and not only that but nearly every plant in the room was in full bloom. It was overwhelming beautiful. Some more shots below:
This one is so special they had it in a cage, ooo.
A unique one we liked alot

And this is where I work
64/365 More speedlite practice at my home desk. More pictures below.
I read this today, and that got me started on a lot of points. 1. Shutter speed does not matter. Meter as if the flash isn’t there, then underexpose a stop or two 2. Ambient light is heavily affected by ISO and 3. Bouncing light looks easy, but is hard.
EF-S 10-22mm 1/15 @ f/4.0 ISO 640 WB: Flash 430EXII E-TTL at -2/3...
62/365 More on-camera speedlite practice. Issues: -I like that I kept the tungsten backlight. That was intentional for the practice. -I don’t like that there is a shadow, that Gib has a bit of flash-shine happening on his face, and that there really isn’t any fill light to speak of. I do have a diffuser on here, but I think my shutter and f/stop choices were wonky.
Need more practice.
